QuadriSpace Offers 3D Authoring for Adobe PDF files
August 23, 2005;
Allen, TX; Document3D™ is among the first 3D desktop publishing
packages that lets you create interactive Adobe Portable Document
Format (PDF) files that include 3D objects, without the need for
JavaScript programming or intermediate translations.
With this release,
QuadriSpace™ makes a leap in 3D publishing that shares 3D information
with everyone. The Document3D™ line of products, from QuadriSpace,
lets CAD users and downstream users easily leverage existing 3D models
and 2D drawings to create assembly instructions, technical
publications, interactive training and other product lifecycle
documents.
”The combination of
Document3D and Adobe PDF will provide QuadriSpace customers a solid
solution for sharing and collaborating on 3D content with internal
teams or outside the firewall with partners or customers,” said Bahman
Dara, senior product marketing manager for Acrobat, Intelligent
Documents Business Unit, Adobe. “Through its support for Adobe PDF,
QuadriSpace is ensuring its customers will be able to view and
interact with 3D content exactly as intended using Acrobat 7.0 or
simply the free Adobe Reader 7.0.”
Adobe has
distributed over half-a-billion copies of Adobe® Reader® software
since the product’s 1993 introduction.

“Adobe Reader’s
worldwide distribution and Document3D’s publishing tools combine to
make it easy for anyone to create and share documents that include
interactive 3D content,” offered Brian Roberts, President,
QuadriSpace. “Documents with embedded 3D are easier to create, quicker
to update and provide better communication than today’s static
documents. In addition, Document3D makes full use of existing CAD
designs and metadata to create powerful documents from your product
information in less time than ever before.”
With the 3D PDF
Module™, Document3D offers the powerful new ability to publish to
Adobe PDF and maintain the interactive 3D elements. Adobe Reader 7.0
natively supports 3D, so no additional software is needed to view and
interact with the 3D objects in the document. Now, everyone will be
able to:
-
Import 3D CAD
files directly into documents; with Document3D there is no need to
create intermediate U3D files
-
Create complex
exploded views and interactivity without writing a single line of
JavaScript
-
Work with an
integrated toolset that includes page design tools and 3D editing
tools in a single solution
-
Capture and
create design metadata, step-by-step instructions, bill-of-materials
and other product information in final 3D-enabled Adobe PDF
documents
The 3D PDF Module™
is available now. Document3D lets users author powerful interactive 3D
web pages, EXEs, CDs and much more today. Documents can now be
distributed with the freely available Reader3D™ and Adobe Reader 7.0.
